The Story Behind Rock Paper Coin: More Than Just a Name

Every great business has a story, and Rock Paper Coin’s began in 2019 with two women who knew the wedding industry inside and out, Nora and Elizabeth. The dynamic duo worked together closely at Bridal Bliss, a pacific northwest based planning company owned by Nora. Fast forward a couple of years and enter Nora’s matchmaking skills. An introduction between Elizabeth and her brother-in-law becomes an instant connection and soon Nora and Elizabeth aren’t just great friends and co-workers, they’re now sisters-in-law.

Nora and Elizabeth not only shared family ties but also a deep passion for weddings and events. With their backgrounds in planning hundreds of weddings and events and running a thriving company, the two set out to solve a challenge they saw time and time again: simplifying the business side of weddings for planners, vendors, and couples alike while keeping the system affordable.

But the story doesn’t end there: the name itself carries a special meaning that speaks to the heart of what Rock Paper Coin is all about.

Why Rock Paper Coin?

At first glance, Rock Paper Coin might sound like a playful nod to the childhood game. But dig deeper, and you’ll discover that each word was chosen with care, representing a core part of the wedding planning journey:

  • Rock – The symbol of love and commitment. The engagement ring is where it all begins, the moment couples say “yes” to forever. Rock represents not just the sparkle of the ring, but the foundation of every wedding.
  • Paper – The necessary, yet often overwhelming, contracts and documents that come with wedding planning. From vendor agreements to signatures, “paper” reflects the business side of weddings that can feel daunting. Rock Paper Coin set out to make this step easier, faster, and stress-free for everyone involved. With the only system offering added functionality and control for planners, it has been a game changer from day one.
  • Coin – The final step: payments. Weddings involve countless transactions, and managing them securely is critical. “Coin” captures the ease and peace of mind that comes with streamlined, digital payments, no lost checks, no stress, just security and simplicity.

Built by the industry for the industry

Together, these three words form more than just a name, they capture the entire wedding business journey. Engagement. Contracts. Payments. With Rock Paper Coin, everything couples and businesses need to move from “yes” to “I do” comes together in one place.

When Nora and Elizabeth founded the company, they didn’t just want to build software; they wanted to build a tool that would make the lives of wedding and event professionals easier. A platform that saves time, reduces stress, and helps businesses grow, all while keeping the heart of weddings at the center.

More than a business, it’s a legacy

What makes Rock Paper Coin especially meaningful is that it grew out of family. Two sisters-in-law turned shared experiences into a shared mission, creating a legacy that’s helping thousands of professionals across the country. The name itself is a reminder of their “why”: to simplify weddings, honor the journey, and celebrate the people who make them happen.

So the next time you hear “Rock Paper Coin,” know it’s not just a clever name. It’s a love story, a business story, and an industry story – all wrapped into one.
